By popular demand, the Gold Coast Amateur Beekeeping Society inc. are holding another “Introduction to Beekeeping Course” to get you started with backyard honey beekeeping.
Suited to the absolute novice, the merely curious, or the beginner in the first year of keeping honey bees. Applicable to all hive types and designs including the Flow Hive.
(NOTE: If you have completed one year / season or more with honey bees, this course would not be ideally suitable for you because it is aimed at the absolute novice. We offer intermediate level training courses from time to time which may better suit your needs.)
This course is 8 hours, run over two consecutive days Sat from 9am to 1pm & Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

Locations:
Day 1: Scout Hall, 224 Turpin Road, Labrador, QLD 4215 (9am to 1pm)
Day 2: Will be advised on day 1 (10am to 2pm)
Receipts will be issued and further information will be sent to attendees prior to the course start date.
What you need to know:
Please arrive from 8.30am for coffee, ready for a prompt start at 9am on Saturday. The course will present the theory and practical skills a beginning beekeeper needs to get started with a honey beehive. At the conclusion of the course beginners will have met several of the GCABS Club members who will assist with practical activities over the course and establish mentoring connections for new members. Participants will be able to Loan the necessary PPE for Day 2.
What to wear on day 2:
Basic morning /afternoon tea will be provided. If you need further nourishment bring it along and feel welcome to eat throughout the morning, as 4 hours is a long stretch. If you have food allergies that we need to know about please mention that at least one week before the class so that we can cater.
